What happens when 8th graders learn geography and circuitry? We put it to use making quiz boards. While waiting for judges on Science Fair day, teams of two created electric quiz boards.

First teams were assigned their geographic location. Some had the US, some had Europe, some had Asia, and some had Africa. These were drawn on to large pieces of poster board and the states/countries listed in alphabetical order along the edges.

Next brads are inserted next to each name and in each state/country. Aluminum foil "wires" are then strung from brad to brad to create a circuit.

Masking tape is applied to each wire to insulate it from the other circuits.

Finally, using a tea light with wires, the circuit is tested. If the correct answer is chosen, the circuit is completed and the light lights up.
