September Book Reports

September is coming to a close which means it's time for the first book reports of 8th grade. As you may recall, at the beginning of the month I explained that each month I would like students to read and share 1 book. Each student chose a book and recorded it on their book list. Next week students will be asked to share their book in some manner.

There are hundreds of creative ways to do this. The hope is that they will choose something that compliments the type of book and the story line. For example, a mystery book would be a perfect opportunity to create a front page article of a newspaper or a short newscast video. A historical novel could be beautifully portrayed through costuming, either a doll or the student.

No matter how they choose to present, they will need just a few basic facts and opinions.
1. Title
2. Author
3. Theme
4. General summary that does not give away the ending
5. Recommendation - Did they enjoy it? Who else would enjoy it?

The whole thing should take no longer than 30 minutes of focused effort and the presentation itself should be between 3 - 5 minutes.

I look forward to hearing all about their September choices!
